4 notes &

Rdio macro keys

I finally got tired of not being able to use my media keys for Rdio so I took matters into my own hands. I downloaded a utility that allows you to setup global keyboard macros in osx called Keyboard Maestro. Since I couldn’t remap the actual media keys I decided to map the function keys under them since I never find myself using them.

For the picture inclined here is a tutorial …

First things first get the Rdio Desktop

Step 1

1 - Add a new macro

2 - Give your new macro a name. In this case it is “Rdio - Play/Pause”

3 - Click New Trigger and select Hot Key Trigger and use F8 if you want to be like me … or if you want to use the function key under the play/pause media key

4 - Click New Action to open up the action dialog

Step 2

1 - Add the action to Activate a Specific Application

2 - Select the Rdio Desktop from the application dropdown

Step 3

1 - Add the Type a Keystroke action

2 - Tell it to use the space keystroke

3 - Add the Switch to Last Application action

Next MacroPlay/Pause MacroPrev Macro

Now repeat this for the Next (control + right arrow) and Prev (control + left arrow)
